Russell Brand

Russell Brand has revealed that he’s met Katy Perry’s devout Christian parents.

The controversial comic also said he would love to meet actor Andrew Sachs to apologise in person for the obscene telephone messages he and Jonathan Ross left in October last year.

Brand was speaking ahead of his Belfast show next week, when he brings the curtain down on his Scandalous tour.

He’s been romantically linked with pop star Perry since the pair met at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Perry had been keen to introduce him to her parents Keith and Mary Hudson, both of whom are pastors.

Brand said: “Yes I’ve had the privilege of meeting Katy’s family. I always get along with spiritual people. For me the things that happen on a higher level are more important that transient things.”

Brand said his relationship with Perry had curtailed his “social activities”.

“When one is in a relationship one respects the restrictions that imposes,” he said.

“That’s the point of being in a relationship.”

Speaking about the Sachs affair, Brand said he would like the chance to meet the Fawlty Towers star in person to say sorry.

Brand, who is set to star in a remake of the Dudley Moore film Arthur, said the last time he played Belfast had been a joy.

“It was such a laugh, the audience were so convivial,” he said.

“I had a fantastic time in Belfast, there was a real edginess to the show and I’m delighted to be rounding off the tour there.”

And he revealed that he “spiced up” his material for Belfast because Ulster audiences weren’t easily offended.

"spiced up" 'his show because Ulster audiences weren't easily offended...'

Where did he hear that, one wrong religous/political comment and the Belfast audience dies.

I hasten to add that I am a Russel Brand fan and have all his DVDs. I don't think he could "spice up" his shows any further.
