Russell Brand is reportedly set to become a father for the first time.
The 40-year-old British comedian and actor has become famous for his womanising over the years. But it seems he may now settle down, following claims that his 27-year-old girlfriend Laura Gallacher is five months pregnant.
According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, Russell is "absolutely made up" about the prospect of having a baby.
"Russell might have bedded many of the world’s most stunning women but now it’s all about Laura and becoming a dad," a source told the publication.
"Russell is absolutely made up. Most of his closest friends have children and he was desperate to start a family. He and Laura are thrilled to bits at the prospect of becoming parents. They have shared the happy news with close family and friends."
Forgetting Sarah Marshall star Russell and Laura, the younger sister of British television presenter Kirsty Gallacher, have been dating on and off for the past few years. They first split in 2007 before they were seen together again in 2009, before another break-up and reconciliation last year (15) when they enjoyed a romantic weekend in Rome, Italy.
Now that they are to become parents the couple is apparently determined to make their relationship work, for the sake of the baby.
“They have been living as a couple for the last six months and are determined to make a go of their relationship," the source added. "It feels like a new chapter in their lives and the couple are enjoying every moment, including discussing baby names."
The pair are now said to be planning to put a nursery in the £1 million house they share by the river near Henley-on-Thames, England.
Russell was married to singer Katy Perry from 2010 to 2011, with the pair finalising their divorce in 2012. Following the end of his marriage, he was linked to socialite Jemima Khan.
Those relationships didn't work out, but Russell has said to always been keen to start a family.
"It didn't work out with Katy, who felt she was too young for kids - and there were conversations with Jemima," the source continued. "But Russell is blissfully happy with Laura."
Russell declined to comment when contacted by the newspaper.
