Russell Grant in New Year's parade
Russell Grant is going to be dancing in the streets - as a guest performer in London's New Year's Day Parade.
The roly-poly astrologer, who became a popular star of this year's Strictly Come Dancing, will strut his stuff in front of an estimated half a million people.
Russell will perform at the event with his Strictly partner, Flavia Cacace, just three days before he heads into hospital for an operation on a damaged knee.
He will be seen on the 2.2-mile (3.5km) route from The Ritz Hotel to Parliament Square.
The star said: "I have made so many new friends across the country in recent weeks and appearing in London's New Year's Day Parade will be the perfect opportunity to say a big thank-you to the great British public for believing in me."
He was voted out of the show last month after being fired from a cannon in the Wembley Arena heat.
Bob Bone, executive director of the parade, said: "He won the hearts of the nation for his exploits on Strictly - and I know that thousands will flock to see him and Flavia in person."
Around 8,000 performers will take part in the free parade.
