Ruth Wilson: 'I can't go on Tinder - it's too difficult'
Ruth Wilson has refused to comment on rumours she's dating Jake Gyllenhaal, insisting it's "not anyone's business".
Ruth Wilson knows how difficult it is to maintain a relationship, even without her celebrity status factored in.
The 34-year-old actress has been romantically linked to handsome A-listers including Jude Law and, more recently, her Constellations co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. But she admits the prospect of dating is incredibly hard if you are famous, especially considering she can't use popular methods of meeting people - such as online dating app Tinder.
"You can’t go on Tinder," she told Britain's InStyle magazine. "You usually tend to find people you’ve known for a long time. It is difficult. Just the nature of the job means it’s difficult. The fame side of it is one aspect. But the fact that you are travelling a lot, or you have to be away a lot. It’s difficult to maintain a relationship even without the fame aspect of it."
Ruth was also asked about her rumoured romance with Jake, to which she replied: "I don’t know. I don’t give much away and I don’t want to. It’s not anyone’s business."
The stunning star has achieved fame Stateside thanks to her role in hit TV series The Affair. It's required her to get involved in some raunchy scenes, but the actress ended up calling a meeting to discuss the amount of sex in the show as she thought it was "unnecessary and I felt uncomfortable", adding: "Personally, I didn’t want to keep doing sex scenes and blow jobs."
Following the chat with the directors and show runner, Ruth insists everything is fine.
"You have to listen to yourself in those situations," she continued. "There’s still sex in it but it wasn’t expected that I would be nude."
Ruth's involvement in The Affair came about because she wasn't finding what she was looking for by reading the film scripts on offer. And she's still annoyed with the lack of opportunities for women in Hollywood.
"To be honest, I wasn’t really looking at TV for America because I know the contracts and how long they are, but the film scripts weren’t good enough," she said. "There’s a very small number of women who get to do the best material that’s around, and there are probably only three movies scripts a year with good female roles in them. So there’s a limited amount of material to do. With television there’s so many shows led by women, it’s amazing."
