Ryan Gosling 'attempts low-profile date'

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling had "grannies gushing over him" as he tried to go incognito at a theatre production over the weekend.

The Hollywood hunk has fans all over the world thanks to his brooding good looks, with many of his admirers devastated when he didn't win People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive honour last year.

Ryan doesn't always want to be the centre of attention though and was keen to fly under the radar when he attended The Heiress at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York City with his girlfriend Eva Mendes.

The pair walked in right before the production - which stars Jessica Chastain - started in the afternoon. Ryan wore a brown hooded sweatshirt and a denim jacket, but his dubious disguise didn't fool onlookers.

"He was trying to not be recognised, but he looked so out of place that everyone knew who he was! The grannies next to us were gushing over him," an insider laughed to New York Post.

Ryan and Eva have been dating for over a year, after meeting on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines.

The 38-year-old actress has gushed about her 32-year-old beau, calling him "amazing" and her "dream co-star". She also travelled to Thailand to spend time with him while he shot his film Only God Forgives, while her mother is said to be keen for the pair to tie the knot.
