Rylan Clark-Neal 'in talks' for The Xtra Factor
British TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal is set to return to his roots by presenting The X Factor spin-off show The Xtra Factor.
Rylan Clark-Neal is reportedly in talks to present The X Factor spin-off show The Xtra Factor.
The This Morning presenter, who rose to fame as a contestant on the British TV singing competition is apparently set to replace current presenter Melvin Odoom.
Despite qualifying for The X Factor's prestigious live shows in 2012, Rylan was harshly criticised by then judge Gary Barlow as "talentless" and a "joke act".
Rylan's flamboyant styling and on-screen antics found favour with the public though, as they voted him through to the eighth week of live contests.
His popularity led to a series of television gigs including as a host of Big Brother's Bit On The Side, and as a presenter on U.K. daytime show This Morning.
Now, according to editors at The Sun, the 27-year-old is set to return to Simon Cowell's televised singing franchise as a main presenter on The Xtra Factor, the companion programme which gives fans a look behind the scenes of the popular talent show.
Due to Rylan's commitments hosting the Big Brother spin-off he may join the show after the summer's live audition stage, with current co-host Rochelle Humes taking on solo presenting duties until then.
"It could be a situation where Rochelle covers auditions on her own in the way (previous presenter) Caroline Flack sometimes did when she was hosting with (her co-presenter) Olly Murs," a show insider tells The Sun.
He has previously revealed that his dream presenting job would be on the main X Factor show.
"My ultimate dream would be to present X Factor," he told The Sun earlier this year (16). To go from contestant to presenting would be a tick in my box."
A show spokesperson did not deny Rylan was being considered for the job, saying, "No decisions have been taken."
If he does land The Xtra Factor role it would be the latest distinction in an increasingly impressive presenting résumé, as he began hosting his own chat show on Channel 5, Up Late With Rylan, earlier this month (May16).
