Salma Hayek: Always the optimist
Salma Hayek is aware how privileged her life is, and counts her blessings every day.
As a world-famous actress, many would assume that Salma has a lot to smile about. However she's had to overcome personal obstacles, as well as dealing with scary fans. Earlier this month, Salma was forced to get a restraining order against two female fans who allegedly threatened to kidnap her daughter, seven-year-old Valentina. However she remains positive.
"My father taught me to treat everyone the same and to stay close to your family. My mom taught me only stupid people get bored," she smiled to People. "I count my blessings every day."
Salma is now able to pass lessons down to Valentina, who she has with fashion boss François-Henri Pinault.
As an A-list star, Salma travels all around the world for work. She recently got to learn more about her grandfather's Lebanese heritage, which also inspired her to produce animated movie Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet.
"We've had so many great adventures. My life has exceeded my expectations, way beyond what I could have imagined," she smiled.
"When I read it [The Prophet], I felt it was my grandfather teaching me about life. [The movie] is not just a film - it's a contribution to my daughter and other kids."
The April premiere of the film was held in Lebanon, and the 48-year-old was excited she could share her history with Valentina.
"[I was able to] see the home my grandfather grew up in and see family I had never met before. And Valentina was able to understand the importance of this project, and she is very proud that I did it."
The film features the vocal work of Salma, Liam Neeson, John Krasinski and Quvenzhané Wallis.
