Sam Bailey's X Factor weight loss

Sam Bailey has lost a stone since joining The X Factor

Sam Bailey has said being in The X Factor final 12 has helped her lose weight because she has time to eat properly now.

The prison officer and mum of two told Now that her hectic schedule before the ITV show meant that she hadn't eaten regular, healthy meals in years.

Commenting on losing a stone since entering The X Factor house, she said: "We have a chef in the X Factor house who cooks me proper food. I was working a 41-hour week before and didn't have time to eat three meals a day.

"This is the first time I've eaten properly. I'm getting more confident, but I want to lose another dress size and then I'll be happy."

Sam, who is the last remaining contestant in Sharon Osbourne's Overs category, said she had put on weight after giving up smoking and had been too embarrassed to let husband Craig see her naked.

She admitted: "I was very self-conscious. My breasts are huge and I had fat everywhere. I wouldn't get changed in front of my other half without turning the lights off."
