Sandra Bullock: Billy Bob Thornton looks like he'd kill
Sandra Bullock understands Billy Bob Thornton looks like he's always carrying a knife, but has assured fans he's actually a lovely, kind guy.
Sandra Bullock assures fans Billy Bob Thornton might look like he has a "shank" in his back pocket but he wouldn't actually kill anyone.
The Oscar-winning stars appear alongside each other in new movie Our Brand Is Crisis, and they were both at the Hollywood premiere on Monday (26Oct15) night. They have been friends for years, so Sandra felt it was her duty to debunk a few myths surrounding the 60-year-old.
"The funny thing about Billy Bob, everyone thinks he wants to kill you," she told People. "Like, he looks at you as if he wants to take a, what is it, a shank? What is that knife they make in prison?
"He's the nicest human being, the nicest human being ever... He's got the tattoos and the little shirt and the boots. You're assuming a knife somewhere in the back pocket. But there's no knife, just love. Just love."
Sandra, 51, and Billy both rose to stardom in the '80s and that is when they got to know each other too. Having so many similar experiences around the same time made it easy for them to bond, and Sandra has praised her pal for not letting fame alter him. Billy feels the same way, explaining many people who have achieved her level of stardom couldn't help but be affected by it.
"She's hilarious," he enthused. "I love being around her. She's so fun to joke around with. She's such a regular gal. She doesn't have the ego that a big star like her you think would have. Really down to Earth girl."
Our Brand Is Crisis follows a US management team as they try to help a new leader take power in South America. George Clooney acted as a producer on the film, with Billy saying the experience of teaming up with him and Sandra was "moving" because they are all from the same generation.
