Sandra Bullock emotional over kindness
Sandra Bullock almost broke down in tears while thanking Jay Leno for always being kind to her on his second-to-last show yesterday.
The star is nominated for a best actress Oscar with Gravity, but has previously been criticised for appearing in comedies that have received bad reviews.
She joined talk show host Jay on The Tonight Show yesterday, his second-to-last before giving up the position.
While there, the 49-year-old became emotional as she thanked the TV personality for sticking by her through the years.
“I’d like to say something. I’m going to start crying,” she said, welling up.
“You’ve always been so kind. That’s saying a lot in this business because we like to be mean. There’s not been one time that you haven’t treated me like I had something to offer. Even when the film was horrible and you knew it, you never let me see it in your eyes.
“When I made crazy life decisions you never questioned [them]. You were always so welcoming and every single person on your crew was that way consistently and I just felt special even when I felt very insecure. And everyone I think, in this room and in this country, has felt that every day that you’ve been in their homes and I’m so grateful that I got to be a part of this.”
The emotional speech was brought on when Jay gently teased Sandra about 1997 action flop Speed 2: Cruise Control, joking that now he’s retiring he doesn’t “care anymore”.
Following her kind words, he sincerely told the star that he finds her “special”.
Sandra looked gorgeous as she sat on the show’s couch wearing a navy Gucci dress with a high neck and sleeveless design to show off her toned arms.
