Sarah Michelle Gellar grateful for Robin Williams

Sarah Michelle Gellar is lucky to have Robin Williams as a co-star because he is sympathetic of her family values.

The actress has three-year-old daughter, Charlotte, and 10-month-old son, Rocky, with husband Freddie Prinze, Jr.

She credits the comfortable atmosphere on the set of her new television series The Crazy Ones because co-star Robin is happy to pick up the slack.

"Being able to have Robin sort of take the lead, for me it's the best of both worlds," she told Us Weekly. "I get to spend time with my family and I get to do a job that I love."

The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star revealed that the thespian is sympathetic of her family and work life balance.

Apparently the 62-year-old is like a father figure to her on and off-screen.

"He understands the dilemma that I find being caught between my home life and my professional life. He couldn't be more caring,” she gushed. "My joke is that I actually didn't apply to be on the show - I actually applied for Robin to adopt me. I didn't realise it was actually a job on a TV show, but since that was second best, I took it!"

Sarah portrays an advertising executive who works for her wacky dad's company.

She often compares her own parenthood experience to that of Robin’s.

The actor is father to three children, including Zelda, 24, with second ex-wife Marsha Garces.

"I'm fortunate enough to get to watch the relationship between my husband and our daughter," Sarah continued. "I also get to watch the amazing relationship between Robin and Zelda and take from that."
