Sarandon: Grandchild will be spoiled
Susan Sarandon is looking forward to showing her daughter how tough it is to be a mom.
The Thelma and Louise actress’ daughter Eva Amurri Martino announced she was expecting her first child with husband Kyle Martino last month.
And the 67-year-old star says she’s going to be the kind of grandmother who will give her grandchild any and everything he or she wants.
“I plan to just completely go against everything my daughter’s trying to do and spoil them completely,” she laughed to People.com.
“I also can’t wait for her to understand how challenging being a mother is and appreciate me even more when she finds out.”
Susan plans to help out Eva as much as possible, however. But the star insisted she won’t be doling out advice on how to parent.
“I will take the kids when she’s crumbling with exhaustion, but I wouldn’t begin to give her advice,” she said.
“She’ll find her own way, and she has very, very strong opinions about everything. So she’ll figure it out through trial and error, like every other mother does.”
But there is one thing Susan is certain of. Her daughter, she says, will be a great mother.
“She’s gonna be a kick-a** mom,” she said. “She already is embracing it so completely.”
Eva, 28, is Susan’s eldest child from Susan’s relationship with Italian filmmaker Franco Amurri in the mid-1980s.
Susan also has two other children, sons Jack Henry and Miles Guthrie from her 21-year relationship with fellow actor Tim Robbins, which ended in 2009.
Eva has followed in her mother’s footsteps as an actress, having made appearances in TV shows including How I Met Your Mother and New Girl as well as her mother’s film The Banger Sisters.
She married former Major League Soccer player and current NBC Sports broadcaster Kyle in October 2011 after becoming engaged in December 2010.
The couple’s little bundle of joy is set to arrive at the end of the summer.
