Scherzinger flies home for funeral

Nicole Scherzinger has flown home for her grandma's funeral

Nicole Scherzinger is said to be devastated following the death of her beloved grandmother.

The X Factor judge found out her nan had died shortly before Saturday night's show, but stayed to support her acts Jahmene Douglas, James Arthur and Rylan Clark, according to reports.

Nicole - who appeared tearful on the talent show, particularly after District 3's rendition of Tears In Heaven - has now flown home to the US for the funeral along with her racing driver boyfriend Lewis Hamilton.

A spokesman for the former Pussycat Doll told MailOnline: "Nicole had to return to the US to attend her grandmother's funeral. Sadly, she passed away on Saturday morning.

"She did mention on the show that a couple of the songs were particularly poignant for her."

A source told The Sun the 34-year-old was "devastated when she found out her gran had died".

"Her first instinct was to rush home. However, she's made a commitment to those boys and her family assured her she could fly out on Monday."
