Schofield to cover royal wedding

Phillip Schofield will reportedly cover the royal wedding for ITV

Phillip Schofield will front ITV's coverage of the royal wedding, it's been reported.

The 49-year-old Dancing On Ice and This Morning presenter will anchor the coverage with News At Ten presenter Julie Etchingham, according to the Daily Mail.

Other ITV News presenters including Mark Austin, Alastair Stewart and Mary Nightingale will also feature on the day.

The ceremony on April 29 is expected to draw large audiences with the BBC, ITV and Sky all competing for viewers.

It was earlier reported Huw Edwards will front the BBC's coverage.

Earlier plans to film the Westminster Abbey ceremony in 3D were dropped because of the space needed for the format's cameras and its relatively small audience.

Broadcasters had hoped to be given the go-ahead to use the technology to televise the event, which is expected to draw a huge worldwide audience.
