Serena’s rep denies rift
Serena and Venus Williams' spokespersons have dismissed claims the pair are at odds.
The 32-year-old athlete hasn’t been seen with her sibling, Venus, off the court for weeks, according to the New York Post, fuelling reports Venus is upset over her sister’s recent partying.
However, Serena’s spokesperson, Kelly Bush Novak, tells the outlet nothing could be further from the truth.
“They continue to be each other’s biggest fans and a beacon of support for each other. There is no change in their very close and special relationship,” Kelly said.
Venus’ rep, Lisa Sorensen, also denied the claims.
“I am very surprised by these accusations. They are completely false. Venus and Serena always have been and continue to be close and supportive of one another,” she stated.
Serena has meanwhile been focused on a new venture, in addition to her tennis career.
The star unveiled her Serena Williams Signature Statement Collection on the runway for the first time in New York this week.
“It’s my heart and soul. Even during the Open, I’m playing and I’m not only designing the clothes, but the [models'] hair and the make-up," she told Women’s Wear Daily. "I didn’t do all the jewellery because I had too many matches to play. I have a wonderful team I’m working with. I even chose the music [for the show]. I want to make sure there’s nothing too superfast but [it has] a little romance and a little life and youngness to it."
Serena, who went to school for fashion design, is scheduled to present her collection on HSN next week.
