Shakira using emails against ex in lawsuit
Shakira’s former lover Antonio De La Rua is suing her after 10 years together but she is using emails to prove he renounced entitlement to her funds.
The singer is currently embroiled in a legal war with former lover Antonio De La Rua.
He wants $250 million from the pop star after dating her for 10 years, according to TMZ.
The man claims he was Shakira’s business adviser as well as her romantic partner.
He alleges they struck up an oral agreement in 2004 about their finances.
However the singer is proving Antonio wrong by showing electronic exchanges from 2011.
"I am not a partner in any of your companies. You are the sole owner of all of them," the online conversation allegedly reads.
Antonio apparently sent a message to the star’s mother according to paperwork filed in L.A. County Superior Court.
Additionally, The Voice mentor claims she drew up a relationship contract in 2006.
The document, similar to a prenuptial agreement which some married couples use, made it clear what would happen to their finances if they split.
That year they apparently both decided to create a joint bank account with $10,000 in which they would share if they ended their relationship.
Plus they agreed to "renounce" any rights to money she would make in the future to avoid a lawsuit.
