Sharon O defends JLaw
Sharon Osbourne says it’s tough to be the “It” girl.
The reality TV star is apparently a big fan of the actress, who was supposedly relieved she didn’t take home an Oscar for the second time this year amid fears she would fall out of favour with fans after last year’s Anne Hathaway backlash.
But Sharon says the critics should lighten up, and she hopes naysayers are proven wrong.
“It’s tough being the ‘It’ girl,” Sharon said on US chat show The Talk Thursday. “You’re so hot that the only way to go is down,” she explained.
“She’s such a baby. She’s got her entire career and many years [left],” Sharon added.
Jennifer, who took home the award for best actress in 2013 for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, was up again this year for her supporting role in American Hustle.
A source told Radar Online the actress was crossing her fingers she wouldn’t take home the coveted statuette.
“Jennifer said she was so relieved she didn’t win because she didn’t want to go through what Anne Hathaway experienced,” the insider said. “She’s very aware that the backlash is already coming anyway.
“It wasn’t in a mean way; she was sort of joking because she and Anne are actually friends. But she just knew that if she won the Oscar again it’d be like a target on her back,” the source added.
Anne famously stepped away from the spotlight after critics tore her apart following her supporting actress Oscar win for Les Miserables.
Although she has four movies already scheduled for release this year, the star admitted at the time she felt a brief break was important for her career.
“My impression is that people needed a break from me,” she told Us Weekly.
