Shelton: Tour is everything
Blake Shelton is looking forward to his first-ever summer headlining tour and has vowed never to forget the experience.
The country music star and mentor of The Voice will take the stage for his first show in Virginia Beach on July 19.
The star says he’s worked for years to get where he is and he can’t wait to get on the road.
“I'm going out on my first-ever headlining amphitheater tour, and I'm never going to forget it,” he told MTV News.
"It's everything I ever worked for, from the first time I tried to play a chord on the guitar, this was the dream I had, this was the image that was in my mind, of stepping out on one of those big summertime amphitheater stages, and looking out and seeing a bunch of people ready to have a good time," he explained.
Blake promises his fans will share in his experience.
He’s working overtime over the next six weeks to make sure he puts on the best show possible.
"…That's what Iconic Summer is; it's memories, it's things you won't ever forget,” he said.
Blake will also be raising funds for charity through ticket sales.
Proceeds will be donated to an organisation called Healing in the Heartland. The non-profit is helping victims of last month’s devastating Oklahoma tornadoes get back on their feet.
