Sheryl Crow ‘doesn’t rely on sex’
Sheryl Crow sees a lot of “sex” projected in music and she thinks it’s a “bummer”.
The pop star is known for her folk influenced rock sound and she’s performed with the Rolling Stones, Stevie Nicks and Sting, as well as many other legends in the industry.
But she doesn’t use her sexuality to convince music lovers to listen to her songs.
"It's hard to be a woman in music today," the All I Wanna Do singer told Good Housekeeping. "There's so much sex that's projected, and that's a bummer. These singers talk about how empowering it is, but a good musician who can command the stage doesn't have to rely on sex to sell her music."
The 52-year-old star has been active for over 20 years and received nine Grammy Awards.
While her career is going strong, Sheryl is still searching for love. In the past she’s gone out with men who were “highly successful”, including Owen Wilson, Eric Clapton and former fiancé Lance Armstrong.
"But what ends up happening is that one of you becomes smaller – and it was always me,” she explained to the magazine. “I do think that sometimes in order for one person's light to shine, everyone else has to dim theirs."
Sheryl, who adopted Wyatt in 2007 and Levi three years later, hasn’t closed herself off to marriage, though it isn’t necessarily a priority.
“Hey, I would love to get married – I'm still old-fashioned. But I don't think marriage is the be-all-and-end-all," she said. "It's better to have three broken engagements than three divorces."
The songstress is on tour with Rascal Flatts and Gloriana. Sheryl is performing numbers from her ninth studio album, Feels Like Home, which was released last September.
