Shia LaBeouf was reportedly attempting to research a role when he visited a Los Angeles recruitment office at the weekend.
The former Transformers star was photographed trying to enter a Los Angeles recruitment office for the American military branch on Saturday, prompting rumours he was considering service.
But according to TMZ, Shia was simply visiting to prepare for a role by learning about the process of recruitment, enlistment and basic training.
The role Shia is researching remains unclear, although TMZ claims he’s yet to sign a contract confirming his casting.
Unfortunately, the office was closed on Saturday.
Shia’s attempt to visit follows a string of headline-making antics for the star, who was charged last month with disorderly conduct in New York City after allegedly causing a disruption during a performance of Broadway’s Cabaret.
The star’s representative subsequently told TMZ Shia “understands” he suffers from alcohol addiction and is seeking to change is lifestyle.
“He has taken the first of many necessary steps toward recovery,” his rep said, while denying reports he had checked into rehab.
The Fury actor had previously been spotted carrying an Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book in California, and was also seen outside of a “celebrity-frequented” treatment facility in Hollywood, according to x17Online.
Shia was arrested for drunk driving in 2008 after he crashed his vehicle, injuring his hand and knee, according to the Associated Press.
The star has also dominated headlines in recent months for his self-proclaimed performance art, including an incident in Berlin when he appeared on a red carpet with a brown paper bag on his head reading: “I’m Not Famous Anymore.”
A spokesperson for the actor had not publicly commented on the latest report at press time.
