Shia ‘whacked out before arrest’
Shia LaBeouf was reportedly chasing a homeless man and arguing with strangers before being arrested Thursday.
The 28-year-old actor was booked by police for disorderly conduct in New York City on Thursday after he allegedly acted erratically while sitting in the audience at Broadway musical Cabaret, and has since been released.
According to TMZ, prior to being taken into custody, Shia was acting weird.
An eyewitness told the outlet he began arguing with a homeless man over a hat and appeared “whacked out” throughout the entire interaction.
Apparently he kept telling the transient, “It’s me, Shia”, even though it was clear they were complete strangers.
The website says this took place hours after he first began “day-drinking” at Iguana NYC restaurant and lounge around 1PM. It is claimed Shia was polite and amenable throughout his stay at the establishment, taking pictures with fans and tipping generously. Apparently he ordered two to three pitchers of margaritas with no food.
At around 5PM witnesses tell TMZ they saw Shia acting bizarre outside of another bar called Three Monkeys. He purportedly began yelling in a drunken rage at a woman walking in the street before calming down and taking pictures with fans again.
Variety reported yesterday Shia acted disruptively during the first act of the play, which stars Alan Cumming and Michelle Williams. He was allegedly escorted out by police for disturbing the cast and fans by smoking cigarettes inside the theatre amongst other bad behaviour.
Shia has baffled fans with his self-proclaimed performance art recently, including an incident in Berlin when he appeared on a red carpet with a brown paper bag on his head reading: “I’m Not Famous Anymore.”
