Shock exit in DWTS
Maria Menounos and Derek Hough were sent home from Dancing with the Stars in a shock elimination last night - falling short of the coveted final.
The pair received a perfect score for their Argentine tango earlier this week, and topped the leader board ahead of William Levy and Cheryl Burke, Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd and Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas.
Despite their surprise exit from the show, Maria and Derek remained gracious in defeat.
"I learned so many things. I learned how strong I was. I learned to persevere. We didn't know our dances yesterday until we got on the floor," she said, before Derek added: "I love, love, love dancing with this person. Not just dancing with her, but just her as a person."
Maria paid credit to her professional dance partner. The TV star says Derek's teaching was second to none.
"I wouldn't have made it this far without his amazing talents and choreography," she gushed.
On Monday's semi-final show, Welsh opera star Katherine messed up her salsa dance leaving her and professional partner Mark trailing in last place - despite receiving a respectable 56 points out of 60 for their two performances.
The blonde beauty also suffered a mild back injury, leading many to speculate her poor performance would see her leaving the show.
Season 14's final showdown will air next week, and will include the hotly-anticipated "freestyle" routine.
Katherine will compete against actor-and-model William Levy and NFL star Donald Driver for the trophy.
