Sienna Miller: Motherhood's made me strong

Sienna Miller realized her own strength when she became a mother.

In American Sniper, she plays a woman whose husband is in the army and leaves her fending for their kids at home.

While it might seem like a great sacrifice, the 33-year-old, who has daughter Marlowe with her fiancé Tom Sturridge, can understand the thinking behind it.

"When you really love someone, you make compromises," she reasoned to German magazine Jolie. "For my role as Talya, that means staying at home and raising two kids while her husband is sent to Iraq to fight. That must have been incredibly hard.

"But us women have a huge amount of strength that I've only fully understood since being a mother."

Sienna has not only been recognised for her films. Her love life has also been scrutinised by the media, particularly her relationship with Jude Law, which apparently ended in them both having affairs and splitting in 2006.

Things have settled down considerably now, and she thanks two-year-old Marlowe.

"It reformed my heart," she said of motherhood.

"I'm a more rounded person, more grounded. My life is suddenly peaceful.

"Before that, things were very unsettled and I was always on the go. Now I've put down roots and have a wonderful home. I just feel calmer than before. And I can thank my little one for all of that."

At the moment, her daughter comes with her on set. But because Sienna wants a calm life for Marlowe, she will try to schedule her work around her holidays when she is of school age.
