Silverstone: Life distracts me

Alicia Silverstone feels at a place where she can get her work/life balance right.

The actress is married to rocker Christopher Jarecki and together they have two-year-old son Bear, meaning she has to juggle her busy career with family life.

She's currently promoting comedy drama Angels in Stardust and now feels at a place where she's able to get the balance between work and her private life right.

"I’ve always been very distracted, sometimes to my detriment. I’ve always been very distracted by changing the world and having the best relationships," she admitted to Collider.

"Now, I’m at a place where I feel like I can really try to balance it all. When I do theatre, I feel so inspired and so absolutely like it’s where I belong, and it made me fall in love with acting, all over again. Now, I’m at a place where I can see that I can be that, and I can also be an author of books that help people, and I can also be an amazing mommy and a healthy person. It’s trying to find the balance in all of that. At other times, I’ve been distracted and not really focused on my acting, at all. And then, I turn around and go, 'Oops, what happened? Where was I? All this time went by.'”

Angels in Stardust is about a teenage girl who lives in a dangerous community, built on a deserted drive-in movie lot in Texas.

Child actor Adam Taylor takes on the part of young boy Pleasant in the movie, while AJ Michalka, 22, plays Vallie Sue.

Alicia, 37, found herself very taken with her younger co-stars.

"There’s always all kinds of things that happen on set," she smiled.

"The main thing that I can say is that Adam, the little boy, is so delicious and adorable, and so is AJ. The three of us were a little dynamic trio that just loved on each other. We could snuggle and hug and kiss, and be together and take care of each other through everything. So, whatever happened, we were together. And we worked a really fast, quick schedule. I think one day, they did one take and were like, 'That’s a wrap,' and we were like, 'Wait, what?!' It’s low-budget filmmaking. It’s the Wild Wild West."

Alicia revealed that her next career step will be promoting her book The Kind Mama: A Simple Guide to Supercharged Fertility, a Radiant Pregnancy, a Sweeter Birth, and a Healthier, More Beautiful Beginning.
