Simon Cowell mortified by Nick Grimshaw spat
Simon Cowell has dismissed rumours that he doesn't get on well with Nick Grimshaw.
(Cover) - EN TV - Simon Cowell has apologised to Nick Grimshaw after appearing to be furious with him on The X Factor this weekend (26-27Sep15).
The music mogul and DJ are two of the judges on this year's show, alongside Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Rita Ora. On Sunday (27Sep15) the singers who would make it through to the next stage of the competition were decided, with Simon, Cheryl and Rita all seen discussing the acts. Nick joined them via a video call because he had work commitments, but as he gave his opinion Simon slammed the computer shut so he couldn't be heard.
"I sent him a text last night [to apologise]," Simon admitted to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper. "I didn't know they were going to put that in the show. That was quite embarrassing. It was meant as a joke but it didn't quite come across in that way."
The record label boss' relationship with Nick has already been called into question, as last week (beg21Sep15) it was suggested the DJ had disappointed show bosses by not showing enough personality.
Irish star Louis Walsh, who left the programme this season, was tipped to be returning. Although that hasn't been confirmed, it was suggested Louis could join as a special fifth judge, or team up with Simon to help him pick the over-25s finalists.
"Just for the record, there's always all this stuff about, we're getting rid of people, we're not happy," Simon added. "I am happy.
"I love the show this year. I love Olly (Murs, presenter) and Caroline (Flack, presenter). I love the judges. We're always planning different things but no one is leaving the show."
Louis left the show after 11 years, but has hinted he would like to make a comeback. After the rumours were reported last week, he appeared on UK TV show Loose Women and confirmed he's been talking to Simon. He said he is "available" and would like to return to The X Factor, dubbing it the best show in the world.
"We always had an idea about maybe doing that with different people on the live shows, so we'll see," Simon said of having a fifth judge. "It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks."
