Simon Cowell pampers pets

Simon Cowell has been lavishing money on his pet dogs.

The music mogul is preparing for the birth of his first child, a boy, with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman in February. To get in the swing of things he has given two pooches a new home, calling the pair Squiddly and Diddly.

Simon has gone all out to ensure his pets are as comfortable as possible, lavishing money on the Yorkshire Terriers.

According to Heat magazine the brother and sister enjoy a massage each day, which sets their owner back $85.

To ensure their diet is right, The X Factor creator has hired a pet nutritionist to feed them a mixture of organic lamb, pumpkin, fish and sweet potato. It's not just the food which is special either, the dogs munch their meals from $754 Versace bowls.

When they are tired, the pair retire on to their 22-carat gold-thread pet mattresses. The beds set Simon back $3,000 and are kept in the room where he sleeps so the pooches don't get lonely.

The 54-year-old star has even cancelled nights out to stay in with Squiddly and Diddly and has a pet nanny on hand to care for them when he can't be around.

Simon has also been updating fans on his dogs' antics on Twitter, even pretending they were writing messages at some points.

"I think Simons groups are amazing. Love Squiddly (sic)," he wrote, referencing the US X Factor hopefuls he is mentoring.

Caring for the pooches isn't the only preparation Simon has been doing ahead of his baby's arrival. Over the weekend he travelled to Miami to spend time with Lauren's mother and the pair were overheard discussing their living arrangements during a meal out.

"They were talking about property as she was talking about the number of bedrooms they would need," an insider told New York Post.
