Simon Cowell 'will be a great dad'

Simon Cowell's pal David Walliams thinks the television mogul will be a doting father.

The television mogul is expecting his first child with newly divorced socialite Lauren Silverman.

Simon recently struck up a friendship with David while working as a judge on Britain's Got Talent.

The 41-year-old funnyman, who welcomed his son with model Lara Stone in May, says he was one of the first people Simon confided in about becoming a father.

He's also certain the TV star will be a doting dad, despite public perception.

"Simon has lots of experience with kids. He spends a lot of time visiting children's hospices. He's great with them and will absolutely love being a dad," David told UK newspaper The Mirror.

"I'm guessing people don't know much about that. It's not something he does to look good. He wouldn't tell you about it himself."

Simon and Lauren's baby is believed to be due in February.

David admits it was a challenge keeping the news to himself but he's proud he did.

"I had this incredible information but it was a private thing. I was good at keeping it a secret," he shared.

He's also given Simon his seal of approval on the tot's mother.

"She's lovely," David said of Lauren. "I'm thrilled for them both."

Lauren, who was married to Simon's friend Andrew Silverman during their romance, is believed to have settled her divorce from the businessman this month.

According to TMZ, the pair have agreed to joint custody over their seven-year-old son.

She will reportedly receive around $2 million due to terms surrounding their prenuptial agreement as well.

It was rumoured that Simon met with Andrew earlier this month in a desperate push to keep his name out of legal proceedings.

"Everyone is trying to resolve this amicably. Andrew and Simon have been friends for six years so there is a lot of history there," a source told the New York Daily News.

"They met in private because so much about this story has leaked out to the press and they really wanted this to be between them."
