Sinitta: Why Nick Grimshaw for X Factor?

Published 15/07/2015

Sinitta doesn't understand how Nick Grimshaw can judge on The X Factor when he isn't a singer.

The BBC Radio One breakfast host was announced as a new panel member alongside Rita Ora last month. They will join returning judges Simon and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini but the So Macho singer is perplexed by her friend's decision.

"I beg Simon for a spot on the panel. I don't get his decision to choose Nick Grimshaw - he can't sing! How can he judge other singers?" she questioned to British magazine Closer. "I think Simon and Nick are good mates though, so he chose him to have a pal on the panel."

The 51-year-old, who had hits in the 80s, has featured on the ITV singing show most years at the judge's houses stage, helping Simon choose who to put through to the live shows from his category.

But she insists she won't give up on her dream to be sat next to the 55-year-old every week even though this year's panel has already started seeing contestants at auditions in Manchester.

"I won't stop begging. My kids often bug me for things and won't stop until I give in," she added of her adopted children Magdalena and Zac. "So that's the tactic I'm using."

While she's missed out this year, Sinitta confirmed she will be back for judge's houses and plans to shock viewers once again with one of her infamously outrageous outfits.

"Oh I always have a trick or two up my sleeve. I love to shock," she smiled.
