Sinn Fein ended war claims 'laughable': McConville family
The family of murdered IRA victim Jean McConville has hit out at claims by Gerry Adams that Sinn Fein "ended the war".
Mr Adams was accused of trying to "legitimise" the west Belfast mother's murder after he told a US TV show that her death is "something that happens in wars".
But challenged over his remarks on RTE, he sidestepped the question and said war "should not be glamourised".
He added: "War is desperate. Part of what we need to look at is that we ended the war."
But Seamus McKendry, who is married to Ms McConville's daughter Helen, responded: "Associates of Gerry Adams are responsible for starting the war and all the crimes that took place.
"What he is saying is laughable."
