Skarsgård ‘crying’ during True Blood finale
Alexander Skarsgård says filming the final episode of True Blood was a trying emotional experience.
The 38-year-old Swedish actor portrays sexy vampire Eric Northman in the HBO supernatural series.
True Blood officially came to an end after its final episode, Thank You, aired in the US Sunday night and Alexander confesses shooting this instalment brought him to tears.
"It was unbelievably emotional," the star told Us Weekly.
"The last scene I filmed, I was just trying to take it all in and I started crying."
Alexander says his life has been transformed forever due to taking part in True Blood.
Now that the show is over, he believes his career will “never exactly be the same” moving forward.
"There's something about going to a location like that and just having these people as your family, and their families as your family," he explained.
"That show has been such a huge part of my life. I've met some really good friends on that set, and there is no doubt that they will remain close friends forever."
Alexander is ultimately happy with the way the programme concluded.
But the thespian is open to what fans have to say about how his character Eric ended up.
"I think how he ends fits with how he's lived," Alexander said. "He's always had a clear mission and a clear agenda on his mind... I guess we'll have to see what the reactions are."
Alexander has appeared on the show since 2008, but he is now moving on to other projects.
He is currently promoting his recently released sci-fi drama The Giver, which also stars Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep.
