Sofía Vergara and her fiancé Nick Loeb have broken up.

The Modern Family actress and businessman Nick Loeb got engaged in 2012. However, Sofía has now revealed the couple have called things quits due to the struggle of balancing their careers and relationship.

"Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have desided to be apart (sic),” she wrote to fans on her WhoSay profile.

"We have been having too many problems with figuring out how to spend time together and becouse of my work and now his,its been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore. We are still very close but we belive is the best thing for us right now (sic)."

It was only in February Sofía was talking about the prospect of their wedding. Even then though it seemed the pair couldn’t decide when to have the ceremony.

"We have been engaged for over a year and we still haven't decided what we want to do for our wedding. He's letting me handle things and I'm not sure if I want to do something big like I did for my 40th birthday. It was so much fun but takes a lot of time and planning,” she previously explained.

"I haven't made up my mind yet but I can see myself doing something very small and intimate with my closest relatives and friends."

This would have been Sofía’s second marriage. Aged 18 she tied the knot with her childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez, who she has 21-year-old son Manolo with.
