Sofia Vergara changes plans to celebrate birthday in Los Angeles

The Colombian beauty urges younger women to watch what they eat.

Sofia Vergara had to change her weekend plans at the last minute after her schedule changed and she realised she would be able to celebrate her birthday in Los Angeles.

The actress turned 44 on Sunday (10Jul16) but feared she would be celebrating away from her loved ones.

"I thought I was not going to be in town," she told news show Extra. "I organised something really fast last week... I thought I really was going to be in New York."

The Colombian beauty headed out for dinner with a few pals and husband Joe Manganiello on Saturday night (09Jul16), and she she told the outlet she would not be counting calories as she celebrated.

The health-conscious Modern Family star said, "I try to eat healthy Monday through Friday (and then at) the weekend I eat cake, I love entertaining... I sacrifice myself during the week so during the weekend I can do whatever I want."

And she urged younger women who want to look great in their 40s to start young, adding, "The way you live in your 20s and 30s is something that’s going to show when you're 40."

Sofia had a special gift for fans as she celebrated her latest birthday - she recently released her third fragrance.

The actress told Extra, "I thought it was the perfect thing, what I needed, because every women needs a fragrance that is sexy that makes her feel sexy and wanted and ready for action whatever that is a party, a date, a business meeting an event, something that you want that extra thing that makes you feel more put together."
