Sophia Bush paid tribute to her late ex Dan Fredinburg with a touching Instagram post on what would have been his 34th birthday.

The 33-year-old One Tree Hill actress’ former partner Dan Fredinburg was killed in April while climbing Mount Everest, having met his death due to a massive earthquake that took the lives of many people in Nepal.

And on what would have been the Google executive’s 34th birthday, Sophia took the time to pen a moving tribute to her late beau.

Alongside a picture of a skyline of blazing lights, Sophia wrote in her Instagram post: “I still don't know what the words are. Magic. Friendship. Memories. Consciousness. Dimensions. Infinite. Break. Dance. Live. Believe. Do. (sic)

"So many. None are the one. They're puzzle pieces but not the whole picture. What I do know is that you are missed. That you are still here. That you changed us, inspired us, pushed us, and guided us. What I do know is that I saw you this weekend, deep in the desert, many times."

Despite the fact that she and Dan weren’t together at the time of his death, Sophia was still close friends with the businessman, who she dated for a year before the pair split in February 2014.

And in the lengthy Instagram caption, the star continued to say she will forever be grateful for the time she had with him.

“Today, on your birthday, our first #LiveDanDay, I'll say it again. I love you my friend," Sophia noted. "I'm grateful for every memory. I'm grateful that we had a friendship that defied context, & a connection that defies physical boundaries even now. Your squad reps you hard, dear one. We live bigger because of you. We will keep writing your name in the sand & dancing in the dust to honor it."

Sophia has previously opened up about the devastating effect Dan’s death had on her.

“Losing one of my best friends a few months ago shattered me," she told Health magazine. “There were days I felt like my body had been turned inside out.”
