Jennifer Lawrence was a "big inspiration" for Sophie Turner when the two leading ladies worked together on their new movie.

Actress Sophie Turner was punched in the genitals by Jennifer Lawrence.

The women bonded on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, but Jennifer did get a little too close for comfort to the Game of Thrones star during one painfully memorable moment.

"She punched me in the vagina once," Sophie laughed during a Just Jared Spotlight chat. "I didn’t ask her to either. It just happened. (Co-star) Evan (Peters) and I were having a fake fight and I said something like, 'I’ll c**t punch you' or 'I’ll punch you in the crotch' and then Jen thought that I said, 'Please c**t punch me, Jen', so she punched me in the vagina and I was like, 'Awesome!' It was pretty funny."

The Game of Thrones actress plays a young Jean Grey in the movie, while Jennifer, 25, resumes her role as Raven Darkholme/Mystique, and Sophie admits she learned a lot from the Oscar winner.

"She is definitely a big inspiration to work with and she is just how you’d want Jennifer Lawrence to be," she added. "She’s exactly the same person that you see in interviews. And she was just amazing. She was really fun, really cool. Hilarious!"

Despite working with big names in the new X-Men film and on the hit HBO series, the 20-year-old Brit admits she still gets starstruck around famous people.

"I’m, like, not cool if I ever meet celebrities," she said. "The amount of times that I’ve collapsed in front of celebrities because I’ve been so in awe of them has been ridiculous. Or I’ve said stupid stuff."

Sophie suffered her biggest fangirl moment when she realised pop star Justin Bieber was in the same room.

"I didn’t meet him; I was in the same vicinity as him," she explained. "I was in a circle of people and I saw him. I collapsed and held onto my friend and I was shaking and I was like, 'It’s Justin'. And then he walked away. So next time he’ll be like, 'Who the f**k is that freak? That’s the one that collapsed!'"
