Tom Hardy would have been a great Royal Marine if he had not made it as an actor, according to a commander who put the Mad Max star through his paces.

The 37-year-old actor was at RM Condor in Arbroath, Scotland, this week to train with 45 Commando Royal Marines.

Hardy, who has been praised for his performance as both Kray twins in the soon-to-be-released film Legend, was visiting the site as part of his role as an honorary member of the Royal Marines Corps.

He took part in a series of physical challenges in the tough Barry Buddon training area and was given a demonstration of the weapons systems used by 45 Commando.
