Star Wars: The Force Awakens has officially become the UK's most successful film of all time.

The sci-fi blockbuster starring Daisy Ridley has now taken £114.0m at cinemas across the country, according to figures from the British Film Institute (BFI).

This is almost £3m more than the previous record-holder, Titanic.

But while Star Wars occupies the number one spot in UK box office history, it is no longer at the top of the weekly chart.

Oscar-nominated epic The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is currently proving more popular with cinemagoers.

The film took a total of £5.2m between January 15-17 - £2.1m more than The Force Awakens managed over the same period.
