Stars named for MasterChef series

A trio of former EastEnders actors will fight it out with stars including Leslie Ash and Millie Mackintosh to be crowned Celebrity MasterChef in the latest series of the kitchen competition.

Also in the running are ex-Coronation Street stars Tina Hobley, who played barmaid Samantha Failsworth, and Ken Morley, who played supermarket manager Reg Holdsworth in the ITV soap.

The line-up, which includes Christopher Biggins, Amanda Burton and Kiki Dee, will be whittled down over six weeks of shows.

The EastEnders contingent of Alex Ferns, who played Trevor Morgan; Emma Barton, who starred as Honey Mitchell; and Todd Carty, who played Mark Fowler, will also be joined by ex-JLS star JB Gill, model Jodie Kidd and Russell Grant.

The line-up is completed by actress Sophie Thompson, dancer Wayne Sleep and TV presenters Alison Hammond, Charley Boorman, Susannah Constantine and Tania Bryer.

The show's executive producer Carla-Maria Lawson said: "This year's series promises some real surprises as our celebrity hopefuls swap stage, screen and catwalk for the kitchen. Be prepared to see a very different side to some well-known faces as the competition heats up."

They will face challenges including catering for hoards of hungry people at the Royal College of Music, cooking for previous winners and trying to impress hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode.

Previous winners include Ade Edmondson, Lisa Faulkner and Jayne Middlemiss.
