Stars slimed at Kids' Choice Awards

Kristen Stewart couldn't avoid the slime as she picked up her Kids' Choice gong
Johnny Depp picks up his favourite movie actor 'blimp'
Katy Perry accepts the award for favourite female singer

Kristen Stewart ended up covered in green slime as she picked up two awards at the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards.

The Twilight actress won the favourite movie actress and female butt-kicker gongs at the annual ceremony in LA and tried her best to avoid the green slime, which is traditionally dumped on celebs at the event.

"Dude, I was too much of a coward to accept this," she laughed as she appeared on the stage at the University of Southern California's Galen Centre, trying to avoid the mess.

But the actress didn't get away unscathed, as she ended up smeared with the green stuff when she hugged presenters Sandra Bullock and Neil Patrick Harris, who were covered in the slime.

Other winners at the 26th annual awards included Johnny Depp, who was named favourite movie actor. He told the crowd he was "truly honoured and humbled" as he collected his blimp-shaped trophy.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson picked up the trophy for male butt-kicker. Victorious won favourite TV show, Katy Perry took the female singer prize, The Hunger Games was named the top movie and book, and Adam Sandler was named favourite voice from an animated movie for Hotel Transylvania.

"Always be nice to your parents," Adam told the crowd of screaming kids while accepting his gong. "Always be nice to your teachers."

Stars at the show included Pitbull and Christina Aguilera, who performed their song Feel This Moment. At the end of their performance, Christina hit a button, covering Pitbull and their dancers in the show's signature green goo.

Host Josh Duhamel said a record-breaking 350 million votes had been cast for this year's viewer-voted ceremony, which honours kids' favourites in film, music, sports and TV.
