Steve Coogan cast in new US show

Steve Coogan has a new US TV role, according to reports

Steve Coogan has been cast in the pilot of a new US television show.

The Alan Partridge star, 46, has bagged the lead part of a cop-turned-lawyer in Doubt, reported Deadline.

The character is said to use "his street smarts to work the system for his clients while battling his own demons and wooing his ex-wife".

The programme would mark actor and comedian Steve's debut on a US TV series.

Doubt has been written by David Shore, whose show House helped make a star of fellow British actor Hugh Laurie in America.
