Strictly celebrities do the double

It was a night of doubles for the Strictly Come Dancing semi-final - two dances for each contestant, twice the effort, and two dancers who got full marks for the first time this series

Chelsee Healey and Jason Donovan sizzled their way to the full 40 points with two Latin numbers as the five remaining contestants battled for a place in next week's final in Blackpool by taking on two different dances rather than the usual one.

Chelsee performed a passionate paso doble with partner Pasha Kovalev in her second dance of the night, giving the Spanish music typically played at bullfights an additional flamenco twist.

Notoriously tough judge Craig Revel Horwood described the Waterloo Road star's performance as "gob-smackingly good" before giving her a rare 10.

And Alesha Dixon told Chelsee she deserved a place in the final: "I'm a little bit speechless. Honestly honey, I don't think you realise how good you are."

Not to be outdone, Jason Donovan also managed a full 40 points as he performed an Argentine tango with his professional partner Kristina Rihanoff.

After scoring 34 with a samba to Michael Jackson's Blame It On The Boogie, the Aussie heartthrob took full advantage of his second dance to put himself in a prime position to reach the final.

Head judge Len Goodman said: "If you're going to do your best dance of the series, when better than the semi final?"

Despite Chelsee and Jason's perfect scores, McFly drummer Harry Judd was top of the leader board thanks to two high-scoring performances during the close-run semi-final.

The One Show presenter Alex Jones and Australian beauty Holly Valance were left bottom of the table going into tomorrow's results show, where the three finalists will be announced.
