Strictly Come Dancing bosses will make a decision today (04Oct16) about whether or not Anastacia is well enough to perform on next weekend's live shows.

Thousands of Strictly Come Dancing fans have asked show bosses to reveal the programme's rules in full after a backlash surrounding Melvin Odoom's exit from the series.

The Kiss FM host found himself the first celebrity to be voted off the BBC competition on Sunday night (02Oct16), after failing to impress the judges with his routine. However, after Anastacia also ended up in the bottom two when an injury involving the tearing of scar tissue following her double mastectomy in 2013 affected her own routine, Strictly bosses cancelled the dance off.

Host Claudia Winkleman told viewers that the rules of the show state that if a contestant is physically unable to perform in the dance off, the decision refers back to the public vote which, in this case, led to Melvin's exit.

However, fans of the show are now said to be demanding the publication of the Strictly rule book in full, amid claims the decision was rigged to ensure Anastacia would continue on the programme.

"There was a lot of feedback that people couldn’t find the rules after Claudia used them to justify Melvin getting the boot," a source told the publication.

"The book is in a West London production office and has never been released. But there’s a need for transparency after so many claimed there was a fix."

However, a BBC spokesperson told the publication: "Due to the nature of some of the content in the rules, publishing them in full would compromise our duty of care to participants."

It remains to be seen whether or not Anastacia will be well enough to perform on next weekend's shows (08-09Oct16), with an insider telling The Sun a decision will be made today (04Oct16).

Despite the scandal surrounding Melvin's exit, the DJ said during an appearance on spin-off show Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two on Monday night (03Oct16) that he had been hoping to be given more of a chance to show off his skills on the dance floor.

"I feel better today, (but) it was really sad over the weekend," Melvin said. "We just didn't want to leave and so soon… We had so much work to still do and we already knew what we were doing for this week."

His professional partner Janette Manrara added: "It was such a specific situation and it is no one's fault. Things happen sometimes and you just have to abide by the rules.

"We love Anastacia and Brendan (Cole), we wish her the best, best speedy recovery. What can you do? You just have bow down and say thank you very much."
