Strictly dancer predicts Laura Whitmore and Giovanni Pernice romance
Gleb Savchenko isn't surprised Giovanni Pernice is no longer dating his 2015 dance partner Georgia May Foote.
Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Gleb Savchenko predicts Laura Whitmore will fall for her dance partner Giovanni Pernice.
The Italian professional dancer enjoyed a relationship with British soap actress Georgia May Foote after they were paired up for the reality TV show in 2015, but their romance fizzled out after eight months and he is now partnered with Laura for the current series.
Russian dancer Gleb, who appeared on the 2015 season and is now on U.S. version, Dancing with the Stars, is so confident they will get together off screen, he is willing to bet money.
“I’m not shocked (about his split with Georgia)," he told Britain's Star magazine. "He’s young and he’s Italian. You know what Italians are like!.. They were never going to get married, have kids and live happily ever after.
“I bet you £100 Giovanni will get with Laura this year. And next season I’ll bet you another £100 he will get with his new partner!”
Laura and Giovanni were the first couple to take to the dance floor when the 2016 series kicked off in earnest last week (ends25Sep16). They won praise from the judges with their cha cha cha to Banarama's Venus.
The dance contest is notorious for its romances. Rugby star Ben Cohen is with dancer Kristina Rihanoff, who he met on the show, and Countdown presenter Rachel Riley is still dating Pasha Kovalev.
TV presenter Laura observed the trend and joked to The Sun newspaper she was open to a romance on the show, weeks before she was given Giovanni as a partner.
"I did laugh when they were talking about your dance partner," she smiled. "I was like: 'Is it dance partner or is it a future husband?'"
"They said you do become close as your dance partner is such a big figure to you and you rely on them so much," she added. "The show has made a lot of couples. How many relationships have come out of it? Quite a few... I'm not looking for anything, but I wouldn't mind going to a wedding if somebody else is looking to get together."
