Strictly's Mark aims for the stars

Strictly Come Dancing star Mark Benton is clearing some space on the dancefloor - by floating through the air dressed as an astronaut.

The actor will be seen flying high on a harness during his routine as he performs a paso doble to the Sarah Brightman hit I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper.

His airborne stunt follows previous aerial performances by stars such as Ann Widdecombe and Russell Grant, who was blasted from a cannon two years ago .

In previous weeks, Waterloo Road star Mark and his partner Iveta Lukosiute have done comic turns with an Austin Powers-themed routine and an MC Hammer-style dance.

He joked: "In space no one can hear you laugh.

"It's been great fun practising in the harness and flying into the Strictly ballroom, I can't wait to do it for real on Saturday night.

"If me and Iveta ever release an album, this is going to be the first track on it. We are bringing Sarah Brightman back."

Their routine is for this week's Halloween special of the BBC One show, which is hammering ITV rival The X Factor in the ratings.
