Susan Sarandon welcomes granddaughter
Susan Sarandon has become a grandmother for the first time after her daughter Eva Amurri Martino gave birth to a baby girl.
The 67-year-old actress’ daughter Eva Amurri Martino gave birth to a baby girl over the weekend, her first child with husband Kyle Martino.
The newborn’s name is Marlowe Mae Martino and she weighed 6 lbs., 11 oz.
when she was welcomed into the world on Saturday August 9.
“[Eva and Kyle] are thrilled and enjoying the new addition to their family,” the couple’s rep confirmed to People magazine.
Susan recently spoke about her plans to spoil Marlowe rotten.
The Academy Award-winning actress said she is open to learning any new activities that would delight her granddaughter.
"I have to learn to knit. I do some crafty things, but I have not yet learned to knit. But I'll do whatever she needs me to do,” she told People previously.
"Mostly I see myself as a memory-maker for my kids and my grandkids. It's just for me to take them places and do things with them – [Eva] can hold down the fort, and I'll do all the fun stuff."
Susan also confirmed she will not be referred to as ‘grandma’.
The star prefers to be called something a little more jazzy instead.
“I borrowed this name from a very dear friend of mine who’s from the South, and his grandma was ‘Honey,'” she said.
The thespian recently released her new comedy Tammy, which also stars Melissa McCarthy and Dan Aykroyd. And Susan will next be seen in thriller The Calling, which is due to reach US theatres later this month.
