Swank hosting ‘dog-a-thon’ with Lynch
Hilary Swank and Jane Lynch have teamed up to co-anchor upcoming charity telethon, Fox's Cause for Paws: An All-Star Dog Spectacular.
The two-time Oscar-winning actress is teaming up with Glee star Jane to host Fox's Cause for Paws: An All-Star Dog Spectacular.
The programme will air on America’s Thanksgiving Day and Hilary thinks the national holiday is an ideal time to spotlight the joy rescue dogs bring to communities.
"I've always been an animal lover," she gushed to ET Online. "To me this is a great opportunity to celebrate dogs and the immense joy that they bring to our lives."
During Cause for Paws, several rescue pooches will be awarded prizes in categories such as Cutest Puppy, Guiltiest Dog, Best Licker, Smartest Dog, Best Celebrity/Dog Lookalike and Best Viral Dog Video.
Several celebrities will make an appearance on the TV special, including Kesha, Fergie and her husband Josh Duhamel, Miranda Lambert, Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Bell, Betty White and Miranda Lambert. Many of these A-listers are set to share personal insight on the happiness adopted hounds inspire in their lives.
The two-hour event airs in the evening on November 27, when many Americans will be enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with their families.
Hilary has been a longtime proponent of animal welfare causes. Between 2009 and 2010 the Million Dollar Baby star helped 1.3 million homeless pets find homes as spokesperson for the Iams Home 4 the Holidays charity campaign.
“I am a really big advocate for speaking up for animals that need to be adopted, and when you think about the statistics, to me, there is no other option but to adopt,” she told Zootoo Pet News at the time.
