Olly Murs, Kaiser Chiefs and Melanie C are among the musicians that will perform with the aspiring stars of the upcoming Take That stage show on a new Saturday night competition series.

The established acts will join the hopefuls on Let It Shine, a search for the lead cast of a show based on Take That's music, for the second stage of the competition.

Five groups of eight aspiring stars will perform with one of the guest artists - Murs, Melanie C, Kaiser Chiefs, Beverley Knight or Busted - before judges Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp and guest judge Lulu select five from each group to go through to the live finals.

The winning group will land jobs with the cast of a touring musical featuring the music of Take That.

The second stage of the competition is filming this week in MediaCity UK in Salford, while the live finals will film at BBC StudioWorks in Elstree next year.

Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc will serve as hosts on the show while musical theatre star Amber Riley will be the first guest judge for the opening round of the competition.

Guy Freeman, editor of Let It Shine, said: "Having seen everyone perform as individuals in the auditions, this spectacular show is all about them working together in groups - supporting each other and their guest star artist.

"Singing and dancing, these specially arranged and staged performances will definitely put them through their paces, as well as provide viewers with some show-stopping entertainment.

"The contestants have really been putting the work in and I'm sure the judges are going to have some tough decisions to make.

"Those who make it through this stage will be one step closer to the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of performing in a new touring musical featuring the songs of Take That."
