Take That's Howard Donald has named his newborn son Bowie in an apparent tribute to late singer David Bowie.

Donald tweeted: "Bowie Taylan Donald came into this world on Tues 12th Jan. Mummy and daddy suffering sleep deprivation but life is wonderful, he is divine."

It is the 47-year-old's first child with wife Kate Halil, whom he married in January 2015.

He has two daughters, Grace and Lola, from a previous relationship.

David Bowie died of cancer on January 10, aged 69.

Donald has not confirmed his son is named after the singer, but he wrote a touching post commemorating Bowie after his death.

"Feel very honoured that I have a photo of me and Jay (Jason Orange) with David Bowie. When we did TOTP. What a genius and a great loss. RIP," he wrote.
