Liam Neeson has made a symbolic donation to help an organisation dedicated to the reunification of North and South Korea.

The Ballymena-born actor plays General Douglas MacArthur in an upcoming movie about the Korean War, Operation Chromite. In a letter to the UniKorea Foundation, Neeson said his $1,515 donation was worked out by taking $915 from September 15, the date of the UN's amphibious Incheon Landing in 1953, and added $10 per month for the next five years.

He believes that is how long reunification will take.

He said the movie told of "the blood, sweat, and tears of every soldier [and] civilian... wishing and praying for a unified Korean peninsula."
