Tamsin 'shocked' over Camelot axing

Tamsin Egerton will really miss her Camelot role

Tamsin Egerton has revealed that she was "heartbroken" when her fantasy drama series Camelot was axed.

The St Trinian's star played Lady Guinevere in the Starz network show, which follows the epic battle between King Arthur and his half-sister Morgan for control of the throne.

"I was heartbroken when I found it wasn't going to go again," Tamsin admitted. "It was a real shock for me because it did so well in America and over here."

The show broke Starz rating figures to attract an audience of 1.13 million for its two-hour finale but was cancelled after one season by its network, which cited "significant production challenges" in the way of a second season.

"I've been told different things but I don't want to speculate," the 23-year-old actress said.

"You always hope they'll go on for another series but you never know."

The cancellation of Camelot was a blow for the self-confessed period drama fan, especially as she had the chance to work with acting heavyweights Joseph Fiennes and Eva Green.

"I absolutely loved that job," Tamsin mourned. "I love period dramas and that character, and I loved the people I was working with."
