Tanner's back - and it's a record
The return of Coronation Street bad boy Dennis Tanner after 43 years has set a new world record.
The character - played by Philip Lowrie - has established a record for the longest gap between appearances for the same role.
Dennis left the street in 1968 but returned in May this year. The feat will feature in the 2012 edition of Guinness World Records, which goes on sale on Thursday.
Philip said: "I've always been proud to have been a member of the original cast of Coronation Street and now I'm doubly proud to be honoured with an entry in the Guinness World Records book for returning to play a part that I've always loved."
The new edition reveals that the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was also a record-breaker. An official YouTube channel was viewed by 72 million people to set a new record as the most live streams for a single event.
